Has nothing to do with the breed itself, but the types of people who have chosen to raise them and how they have raised them combined with the fact that they are more capable of causing harm with their bites compared to say....a chihuahua or Pomeranian who actually bite more often that larger dogs.

I've known people that had two pitbulls, raised from puppies and treated like royalty yet they were still extremely territorial and prone to wild and scary mood swings. While they could be extremely loving and sweet in an instant they could turn terrifying. I have never seen another breed of dog act the way Pit Bulls do and to pretend they aren't different is silly.
