I don't disagree with anything you're saying. I originally said that I don't condone drinking and driving at all. It's always safer to drive when you haven't been drinking....well, unless you've been driving drunk continuously for years...then changing your state of mind might make it worse. But we won't go there.

I just think it would do well for people to understand that there are many factors that determine how risky somebody is behind the wheel, and that it is 100% absolutely true that the vast majority of people who drink and drive do not cause accidents on the road. That means the alcohol itself isn't the only factor, so we if we embrace that fact, we can learn more about how to prevent risky behavior on the road.

It's weird because I generally don't go black/white on issues. I do understand that peoples cultures, the way they were raised, their friends, attitudes, all that stuff effects the way we view ourselves, others and our decision making process.

I get what your point is. Not everyone who drinks is going to crash ergo other factors must come into play. You're saying that because a lot of people act irresponsibly and don't kill anyone on the way, there must be something wrong with the one's who do and we should understand that more to get to the root of it?

I'm cruising through a green light at 2:30 with a sack full of Krystal's because I had sack of something else and a guy hits me because he was drunk. He hit me cause he was drunk. No other study needed.

Edit: I added the sackfull of something else as a Krystal* joke, don't latch onto it. I don't drive stoned.
