Haha, funny questions. Lets say he enters an elevator and put down his hammer, what would happen if the elevator isnt "allowed" to lift it? Will it just wreck through the floor and crash into the pit? Or would the elevator just not be allowed to move upwards? Or is the magic part of the hammer so that it only applies to when people try to lift it?
The elevator doesn't lift the hammer, it just moves things up and down. If the elevator couldn't move it up and down as part of its function as an elevator then the Helicarrier would also plummet from the sky whenever Thor sets his hammer down. The more interesting question is the crane.
It does lift, but since you have an example that actually answers the question, i agree with the conclusion. That if it doesnt affect the helicarrier, when he puts it down there, it wont affect the elevator either

I think ive only seen the first movie (thats where the hammer is in that military base, correct? One would assume that these people have done everything in their power to move the hammer, so cranes and forklifts would probably have been tried, dont you think? Even if we dont see it, its not hard to imagine that theyve tried a lot of different techniques. Not just: Nope, i cant lift it up with my hands, so lets assume its not moveable xD
In the movie they tried using a truck and chain to tow the hammer and it still didn't budge. So crane is most likely out too.
I wonder we if you put something like a piece of metal under the hammer and then used the crane on the metal instead. Seems it'd be more like an elevator that way.
I'm guessing directly trying to pick it up and or touching it are where the problems come in. ---
