I don't know how they think Kid Trunks could even want to live after seeing what a badass his alternate future timeline self is. At the very least let Kid Trunks and Goten reach Super Saiyan 2 or 3 while not fused. They're going out of their way to make Roshi and Krillin compete again so why ignore the two kid Saiyans who may one day grow up to be insanely strong if the writers actually use them :( Kid Trunks pushed Marai No Trunks to that though.
