Teepees were used by the plains Indians and while the plains extend up into Canada I wonder how many tribes in present day Canada actually lived in teepees.

All I know about Canada and its indigenous people is that it's pretty racist up there towards them. The article does a good job at making it sound like this was purposeful but I think some actual Canadians should come in and give their two cents on it
Canada had a history of up into like the 60s of taking Native children from their parents and putting them in boarding schools to educate and "civilise" them, basically, believing that Native parents were utterly incapable of doing so themselves. Visiting their own children was discouraged.
