Husks in Mass Effect, wights in Game of Thrones/ASOIAF, that sort of thing. Never, ever, ever do I want them as the constant central premise, though. Actual zombie fiction doesn't really do much for me unless it's heavily invested in its characters and uses them as a mere tool toward that end, like The Last of Us.
