Sounds like a beta I grew up in the south, we're typically raised to call people older than us sir or ma'am Those of us from the south were raised to treat our elders with respect. Age, title, and rank were all symbols of things which deserved significance. I thank soldiers, hold the door for my elders, and call my doctors by their title.
