I'd like to pause here and thank my mother for teaching me the lesson that if you know how to rub and massage a woman she's going to melt for you.

My mother never gave me that kind of advice. Come to think of it, she just sort of expected stuff to magically fix itself, as did most of the adults in my life when growing up. I still remember her laughing and joking about how I wasn't allowed to date until I was 35.

I'm nearly 40. Now she's worried.
