| SGT_Conti 07/05/17 6:34:14 AM #178: | I don't think it's especially unusual for a journalist to look for and reach out to names behind usernames to get a statement, but I've never seen a reporter just release it or threaten to release the identity, intentional or not, especially in the case of a minor. The most I'd ever be okay with is something like "We reached out to the owner of the account for a statement. They shall remain anonymous" and that's it. Definitely not what they wrote. This isn't even considering the fact that the initial gif was about CNN so an article from the same news network is going to be more closely scrutinized regarding their objectivity. It really does come off like they were upset and overreacted very poorly to the whole thing. Actually I don't even think I'd be okay with that statement given what sparked it in the first place.
