TopicFor those who live outside of the U.S, what are your thoughts on America?

What I do admire about America's political culture is the attitude of voters towards their elected representatives, the attitude that says, "Listen, let's get one thing straight: you work for us, not the other way round. You're not our bosses -- you're our employees. And I want to know that I'm getting my money's worth: I want to know how you voted on issues that matter to me, I want to know how much tax you pay, I want to know how much time you actually spend doing your job."

That's in complete contrast to the political culture in the UK, where your total ration of democracy consists of a cross in a box once every five years; and whatever happens after you put your cross in that box is entirely in the hands of the 650 self-serving bastards who've just gotten themselves a seat on the gravy train, because we don't really care whether they do their job or not.
