We could take a more nuanced and complex outlook to this question by examining the definitions of demons beyond their judeo-christian associations. In that context demons are largely just gods whose worshippers were colonized or killed in a genocide and whose cultures are being reinterpreted by the surviving nation in such a way as to make their destruction less ethically complicated. In this model, any deity can and has become a demon as a matter of political expediency. You didn't really see this kind of cultural historical revisionism until the arrival of the post axial religious traditions (like Judaism) that placed an emphasis on the morality of their manifest destiny in addition to it's practically.

That said there are still a few examples of malevolent Divine personalities in those pre-axial religious philosophies. But they tend to have vague definitions and are associated with general human tragedy like disease, or famine, or mental illness.
