Personally I just dont understand the need for Hollywood and Marvel to keep changing well established characters. This has always happened. Always. Otherwise we'd just be seeing the same thing over and over again for decades. Whats so hard about just creating new characters? A lot about it is hard. In this case one of the most established things about Spidey is that the love of his life is MJ. It doesn't matter what Peter or MJ we see. This is the constant in every adaptation of Spider-Man. If she wasn't MJ people would be waiting for MJ in a sequel. Because that's who Peter ends up with. Doesn't matter if it's 616, Ultimate, the movies, the cartoons or any other zany interpretation of Spider-Man. Again this isn't anything new. Adaptations pretty much always keep established and familiar things while also changing up some stuff to make it fresh or more suitable for the current market.
