Then I remembered the kitchen used to make freshly baked cookies every day and sell them, 3 for a dollar, but the nutritional requirements said they couldn't sell those anymore. Michelle took my fresh cookies away. They made them every morning and you could smell them from 100 yards away. If you got the earliest lunch period they would still be warm and gooey, and they tasted better than my grandmother's cookies because the woman who cooked them was like 80 and an actual grandmother. It was the only redeeming quality. Could you imagine buying warm gooey cookies for a dollar at a public school? The next year, I went into the cafeteria the first day of school looking for those cookies and they were replaced by cold crunchy cookies that had been frozen and defrosted.
