It's usually white people being all offended for us. Like the Paula Deen thing, most black people didn't really care about her saying it. We did, however, care about that Plantation style dinner party... Yeah, personally I don't really like either deragtory term so I don't use them myself but I don't actually care if anyone uses as long as I don't think they're actually racist/homophobic and they aren't saying it constantly.
