Okay, well that is more exposure to Warhammer than I had going in.

Anyway, it's a real-time strategy game with a heavy focus on unit types. Generally, you are in control of a faction that can build up occupied towns and train and move armies lead by RPG-like generals. Battles are fought on battlefields where armies clash and you can zoom in to watch the carnage unfold in incredible detail. The main focuses of battle are troop placement/formation, unit match-ups, terrain advantage, and capturing important points/structures. Sieges play out like epic fantasy films and even skirmishes can unfold epic.

However, the games also have their problems. Firstly, they aren't very challenging. You can build doomstack armies and pretty much mow down whoever you want and, because of the resources required to build multiple armies, it's fairly easy to span a huge empire with minimal army coverage. The depth of strategy can feel rather light at times. The AI also isn't exactly challenging, and has a hard time understanding basic things like ambushes.

But, no one plays Total War for the depth, they play it for the epic, cinematic clashes between huge armies lead by cliche spewing generals. Basically, it feels like a cross between a strategy game and an arcade game and, regardless of game quality, it always looks great.

This sounds interesting.

How long would you say a mission/session or what have you would normally take? Like CIv games feel like they last FOREVER to me and I have the attention span of a gnat xD
