FF9's was literally made up on the spot and never referenced in the game before that point at all
it was if you went out of your way and paid super close attention to one specific thing that you'd otherwise ignore

your post wasn't antagonistic or hateful at all, yet still i feel the need to let you know that i know more about ff than you ever will kiddo and i either already knew what you said or just didn't care enough to know it
i was playing FF when kids like you were at school pretending not to know what video games were, outside of Mario. these same kids would then go home and play video games too, just like me, except i didn't have to hide the fact that i had a hobby i enjoyed
nowadays it's not a thing anymore since everyone and their grandma plays video games, letting kids like you get away with their fakeness in their younger days. nobody is calling these ppl on this shit or punishing them for their vanity, but i will bro
