In dogs, it's usually more referred to as brindle, although a bit more striped in dogs, not patched. And interesting tidbit of note is that torties are qlmost entirely female save for the occasional xxy male. People also claim that they're the most temperamental cats, but there isn't any science to back that up That's why I knew she was a girly cat!! Calico love!! I had one that gave birth to a Black and White cat, a Faded Tortie, a Gray cat, and a Red.
