TopicConsidering just giving 2 weeks on job without anything lined up

If you're okay taking a gap in your career, which might raise some flags while searching for a new job, then go ahead and put in your two weeks. If you aren't happy, staying and grinding it out isn't going to change anything.

If you're actively searching for a new job though (not a "crap job" like you mentioned), then do not put in your two weeks until you get a written offer from a new place.

My advice is a bit of a combination of the two points above -- spend some time searching for a new job and/or applying to grad school (or undergrad, idk if you've done college) while still working your current job. If, after a few weeks, maybe a month, you haven't found anything promising, then put in your two weeks and start getting set for the "uber/crap job" combo. Then use the uber/crap job time to really soul-search and decide if you're going to switch careers altogether or not.

Either way, just know that gaps in job history are indeed red flags. While they aren't death sentences by any means, just be prepared to explain yourself if any interviewers down the road decide to ask.
