Reason being in the U.K they have a locking mechanism on the trolleys that requires a £1 coin to unlock them and when you return the trolley to the trolley area and relock it you get your £1 back. A buck here doesn't get you much, so a lot of people leave their carts laying around the Wal-Mart parking lot. Sometimes, if I have the time, I'll go around collecting the carts.
