I perfectly understand the utility of shorter hair. Part shaved, part not just looks gross to me. I can't quite pin why, but it's gross. Like, I actually find it mildly objectionable to look at. Again, this is on both men and women.

So that's me. I personally don't do a ton with my hair, but I do leave it a little longer than I might otherwise because it looks better.

I completely agree with you though about haircuts being for the wearer. My personal apprehension to a shaved side shouldn't matter to really anyone but me and my wife. I don't have to look at anyone else for all that long, really.
