Because most likely he's one of those types who thinks "happiness" is living by a rulebook. It always makes me cringe when people think they have to have kids and get married just because everyone else is doing it. That's not happiness and/or growing up; that's just being stupid, and it's a good way to end up unhappy. To clarify, there's nothing wrong with wanting to have kids and all that.
