Actually believe it or not, scientists have been able to use stem cells from mice to create sex cells, which then were used to produce viable offspring. They've been trying to use this research to see if they can eventually one day replicate it in humans.

It's my belief that if something were to indeed cause infertility in both men and women the world over, then the funding and research for this would increase dramatically in attempt to avoid the extinction of our species. Given a decade a so, it could indeed be possible to create healthy embryos in a lab using cells extracted from two parents looking to have children, which could include same-sex parents as well.

If that were to indeed happen, I could also see it being used as an effective form of population control, seeing as how no one could produce children naturally anymore. Only people who could afford to have children would be able to have them.
