Those 3 games alone make it hard pressed for any year ever to surpass it. Honestly though if we're looking at ground breaking achievements in the game industry 1998, 2001 and 2004 should have taken the cake. It was pretty disgruntling to see 1994 beat out 2004. In that case, for that battle, quantity outweighed quality. Because you could argue that 94 had the best individual games. But the sheer mount of great games that dropped in 2004 is enough to say that it was better. The ideas and concepts that were used in games in 94 aren't in place now days.
