while i do think bernie could've done better against trump, it's worth noting that bernie's biggest issue was that he simply looked weak. he never portrayed strength well, he was run off by hecklers from one of his campaign trips - something i'd consider a fatal mistake for him.

i like a lot of his ideas but he always came off as lacking that necessary backbone and there's a few key events that would absolutely destroy him against Trump, who portrays himself - and successfully convinced people - of him being a figure of strength.

more capable but weak vs. less capable but strong does favor the latter a lot.
