They are a tool to be used with common sense, and more often than not, are correct. The most successful people are able to use the x-stats as a guideline, and predict changes/stat adjustments accurately. I relied heavily on the x-stats in GotD, and replaced a few key areas with common sense where the results made no sense (i.e. GSC/Majora) and it won me the Guru that year.
