I realized that one day I might be staring down a foreclosure notice, or a crippling medical bill, or struggling to eat. I'm not, and I don't think I'll be, but I could be. You never know. One day a tornado or a fire comes and your life is gone in an instant.
I would, in the event that something terrible like that happens to me, like to know that we have in place systems that will help me get my life up and running again.
I'd like to know that when my father finally gets so old he needs help with daily routine tasks, that getting him the help he needs won't cost me a fortune.
