I know that Ronan is supposed to be a really tough foe who can singlehandedly battle the Avengers or whatever. But, for the sake of the story, he should have been only slightly stronger than Drax.

Drax fights Ronan and fails to land any offense. Then, Ronan receives a power up in the form of the Infinity Stone. In the rematch, Drax fails to get any offense. Yeah. That's about as effective as showing off a new Superman power up by having bullets bounce of him. If the results are the same as before, how is anybody to even notice the difference?

The first fight should have had Drax as an underdog, sure, but he should have been able to put a hurt on Ronan. Save the "dodge everything" stuff for the Infinity Stone so that the audience can appreciate the upgrade the character is supposed to have undergone.

If you want a villain (or any character) to receive an upgrade, they gotta show some measure of limitation so that the viewer can appreciate the difference. Otherwise, the upgrade is nothing but an informed attribute.
