Andrew Jackson grew up with slaves. What we think about electric dish-washers and all the luxuries of our time, he thought as with the slaves of his time. This was normal to him. Slaves (to the people back then) weren't even human - they were thought of as luxuries to do your bidding. Obviously, we know better today - as this was a HORRIBLE page in history, but it's time for some perspective.
How about you stop with your 2017 privilege? Jackson didn't have the benefit of hindsight back in the 1830's.
So this "but but but he was a SLAVE OWNER!!" crap needs to go. Should he have realized slaves were wrong? Absolutely, but so should have THE ENTIRETY OF THE SOUTH.
The Native Americans were raped, killed, taken advantage of, given treaties that we later broke, and just overall utterly taken advantage of by us. Unfortunately, land ownership was a thing, and they lost. I really don't see any alternatives to this situation that wouldn't have ended in blood-shed. It's sad. And it's why every single one of us should appreciate the freedoms we have. Appreciate the life you have. Because SO MANY PEOPLE have died and suffered for us. For our lives..
