I avoided most forms of social media until about 2005, and I was sort of weirded out by some people on Myspace. This gypsy girl (a real one) kept saying stuff like "if I just showed up at your front door one night, what would you do?" but it came across as more aggressive than playful, and it put me on edge despite her being attractive. We talked a lot and she was my first friend on there, but there was this strange vibe. I know she was who she presented herself as, but I got this pseudo Patrick Bateman vibe some days, like she had a mental illness but was extremely good at concealing it. To sum her up best, she was like the "devil" girl from The Ninth Gate, in both looks and in causing me slight discomfort with a side of intrigue. I tried to find her again out of curiosity a few years ago, but forgot her name and the username she used got me nowhere. We were friends for a couple of years, so you'd think that spookiness I felt would've subsided, but it never did.

The internet definitely used to creep me out. I only began using Myspace because my friend strong-armed me into it with his actual lawyer skills. Now I tend to keep to myself again, but it's mostly because I don't really put myself out there.
