Would let them incorporate events in the story a little more and might let link events pop up in the story as well. I think P3P did it with Junpei's link in the FeMC route. You could only get it past a certain rank after you got past the story event where he got Trismegistus --- Bart, with $10,000, we'd be millionaires!
