If you play different kinds of games than other people do, expect an argument. If you say a game is "only" a 7/10 but most people think it's a 9/10, expect an argument. If your favorite game in a particular series isn't the same as someone else's favorite game in that series, expect an argument. It seems like gamers constantly want to divide themselves. Even members of a shared fandom often argue. You don't hear people who watch TV a lot argue with other people just because they have different tastes. Same goes with books, movies, and other entertainment mediums. But in video game culture, argument is everything. Some gaming arguments get uglier than arguments over politics and such. There are many other forms of media where people can come with diverse tastes and opinions, agreeing to disagree.
