Wow that article is terrible. It's kind of amazing how little people understand how collectible card games work.

"You mean I have to spend hundreds of dollars to build every competitive deck 5 minutes after I download the game? What a ripoff!"

It is hyperbole, but it's also true to an extent. Any new person just starting Hearthstone is going to have a very, VERY long road ahead of them because there's no way to guarantee you're going to pull anything useful. Yeah, you can dust, but at a pack a day at best and the pity timer being at 40 packs, pulling a Legendary a month (that will in all likelihood not be useful to whatever class you chose to start specializing in) means that for even some of the less dust-intensive decks you're still going to have to put a hell of a time investment in to end up with something that may just get meta'd out the next day. It's the reason I quit: I sat out an adventure and an expansion and the best I could do after dusting every card from wild was a deck that was a piece of shit after 2 weeks because it wasn't aggro, which I don't want to play.

I'm f2p (playing since November 2015) and I have 25k dust and 3000 gold (just spent a bunch on new packs. Was 7.5k after spending 4000 gold on MSG). I also bought every adventure with gold.

All I do is daily quests, a bit of arena, and then push rank 5 at the end of the month. I've built about one deck per month.

I had to play aggro my first month because it was all I could afford, but I haven't had to do so since then.

It sounds like you tried to play standard during MSG. They ruined the meta because of how cancerous Pirate decks were. It is a bit better now, but pirates are still good. Non-aggro decks are viable.

You shouldn't dust wild cards if you are f2p. it's the better format anyway, since standard will always have balance issues while wild balances itself. Then you don't have to worry about your good cards being obsolete, even if the meta shifts.
