If I had to pick from those two choices alone, I'd probably choose to be better looking. Life is a lot easier that way. I definitely had an ugly duckling scenario happen and everything got better in my late teens until maxing out in my mid-twenties. Jobs were easy to get, I found myself with a lot more female friends, and I could basically talk my way around anything. I can be charismatic at times, but who I was inside didn't change that much relative to me magically going from nothing to plenty. My improved appearance allowed me to cross barriers that I'd just come to accept would always be there. Education didn't. Even being afforded more empathy was huge. If I was unwell or sad, people genuinely cared more about it and did more for me.

The world is a shitty, unfair place. A high IQ might get you somewhere with hard work, but being attractive means you don't have to worry either way. Look at that criminal who got a modelling career after his mugshot went out... Even my buddy's old boss who was a heavier guy. He got really ill and wasted away, but he survived and began working out and went on to model underwear. That sounds like bullshit, but it's hilariously true. He wasn't any smarter than he was before, but now he's "cool" and doesn't need to be stuck in retail anymore.

I really, really tried not to sound like a prick as I wrote that, but it's hard to not come off as arrogant when discussing this particular subject matter. I hope nobody takes it the wrong way. I am kind of an asshole, but not in that way.
