My problem is this relationship becomes by far the most important thing, to the point that you will do whatever it takes to save it. That's what I mean by "fake". Yes it becomes extremely clear and painful over time, but that doesn't matter, because the relationship is too valuable to lose. This is absolutely something that any healthy relationship grows out of. In year 1 or 2 maybe we were like "shit, can we make this work? Is this relationship worth dealing with *insert thing*?"
