The very next semi-notable game that Baldur's Gate influenced was Planescape Torment. It had the same basic combat system, isometric view, and fantasy type of setting. Then it made things way weirder and thought-provoking. Planescape didn't influence things a ton but I think it's notable because a lot of people consider it the golden standard of video game writing. It's universally respected by people who know it and while it never became mainstream, it's legacy had grown over the years.

There was also stuff like Neverwinter Nights but those have mostly faded.
