And Nintendo isn't forcing devs to do anything, this is just what makes sense overall. The Wii U didn't die -- it was never alive. It was a thing that was going to get these games because it was the Nintendo console and the Kickstarters employed a lot of nostalgia directed at Nintendo fans to find success. It's been reported many times that developers were about as in the dark as the rest of us as to how quickly the Switch would be coming out. The timing lines up pretty well for canning the Wii U versions and moving to Switch development -- which is easier and more compatible with code from the other platforms.
