All the market-based health insurance was driven out by government subsidized insurance, and once the entire industry got swallowed by corporate welfare, the bubble just kept getting pumped up more and more to the point that a bandaid costs $1500. This happens in every industry that the government takes over with subsidies, except unlike cars or houses, the health industry bubble can't actually pop because apparently people really do value their lives an infinite amount.
