Sucks, but the only Japanese wrestlers who are actual stars are Inoki, Rikidozan and to some extent Sakuraba. You're not wrong, but I always hesitate to use "average wrestling fan" as a metric because you run into dangerous territory where somebody like Braun Strowman is also a bigger deal to the average wrestling fan.
