I think the weekly tv format is something done more out of habit than out of recognition for what works Most of you are probably too young to remember this but the Studio Show format which would normally air on saturday or sunday had completely different goals than wwes urge to tell these epics. Youd have people involved in feuds come in and talk s*** on their upcoming opponents - sometimes multiple up coning opponents. Theyd have a squash, showcasing just why this guy is such a bad ass and maybe every now and then things would get wild and their opponents woikd actually be there. It was literally all about establishing characters and reasons for feuds and not about the matches at all.
