both ways it ends up showing a different side to the characters, it gives them a chance to improve part of their craft in a better setting, and you'll have people cheering or booing based on the events from that smaller show, snowballing the popularity (or lack thereof).

it's a pretty crucial part to them right now and for Corbin at least really, really helped him. if he was stuck without that? he'd be dead in the water. no separate outlet to perfect the character or get feedback on what he was doing wrong or how he could better make his points. no place to really learn how to talk the way he does in an easier way. just plain more time to actually deliver promos that may be used to further push a feud on a two-hour show. NXT is ideally a place for you to learn all that but when you get to the main roster you might flounder a bit. talking smack lets you readjust that, realign the character to the new audience, and development can continue from there with the slight buffer. like i said, a bridge between the two.

it's also useful for main roster talent like the Usos, if they can get the character from that show to the roster. which may be possible.
