| MetalmindStats 11/14/25 5:21:48 AM #42: | FoolFantastic posted... ---oh... ~ There's something about the way this album manifests such overarching exuberance through its sheer energy plus Laura and Dylan's evident enthusiasm that's just sort of swept me up ever since my first spin. Like for you, Bane, I think my openness to music like this also has had much to do with my increasing embrace of my own queerness, with reaching a (non-final) relative understanding of and comfort with being queer and with how I present and otherwise manifest that. 10,000 gecs released soon after, and it was overwhelmingly queer friend-circle communities (and particularly one sometime music-making friend within them) that put the album on my radar and got me to give it a listen. And, I think, those firmly queer-coded senses of community and self-acceptance are what it's emotionally associated with in my mind. So yeah, it does typically take me being in a more upbeat mood to actually want to listen to this and then to get into it, but also that's basically just the difference between passively enjoying it and, say, bopping along from side to side almost the entire time. It also feels fitting to share my favorite lines (or sets of lines) - whether due to the words themselves, their delivery, their context, or any other combination of factors - from each song here. To be clear, I've long loved every single one of these songs for reasons that overlap in some ways and don't in others, and lyrics are only one factor that plays into my opinions among them. Leaving these here sans explanation (besides agreeing that "Got Anthony Kiedis sucking on my penis" is an amazing line) feels right somehow:
