You should really invest. Your sleep will improve 1000%.

The tech for making mattresses has advanced in the last quarter century. You should look into it. Even the most basic mattress will be an upgrade for you.

It's not like you can install Linux on it and give your mattress another 5 years of life.

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that mattresses have advanced but I was using a free float waterbed from the 80's up until about 5 years ago when because of it basically falling apart at the frame and getting difficult to find bladders and heaters it just got to a point where I was ready for a regular bed.

I tried a couple of high tech expensive mattresses and they were terrible. But that all came down to personal taste. I quickly learned that memory foam was an issue for me because when I rolled over it wouldn't bounce back to its original position and it felt like I was laying on lumpy ground. It drove me nuts.

What I ended up with that I now do truly enjoy is a hybrid that has memory foam, gel, and coils. It is a really good hybrid from Sealy. Their highest option. I do like it but I think at the end of the day the free float waterbed was better. No tech is beating that. Was the perfect bed. My dad still uses his. Honestly I should have just tried to brace the frame, order some new siderails if possible online and order spare bladders and heaters online. Best sleep of my life was in that waterbed.

Though again I do enjoy my current mattress a lot. I sink in enough but not too much and when moving around it springs right back to its original position. Hybrids are great, pure memory foam sucks to me.
