You kiddin' me? The final fantasy verse is absolutely jam-packed with things that would make a warriors game work from literally any FF game. The monster lists for each game (especially the common things like goblins, slimes, bombs and so on) make up the common hordes you typically fight. Elite monsters like the marlboros, tonberry kings and so on can make for mid-boss encounters or elite enemies. The various locales can be selected from a mish-mash of every numbered final fantasy game. There is a huge list of characters both minor and major to choose from to make up the enemies you fight in the story from all of the 16 numbered final fantasy games (and lets throw FF type 0 in here because why not right).

Similar to dragon quest heroes 2 you have the standard final fantasy equipment lists to make for upgrades to find and equip.

Unstable time and world warping story shenanigans means a certain amount of heroes selected from each of the 16 final fantasy games work together to fight anything you can imagine. A FF10 dark aeon out of control, the four fiends from final fantasy 1 supped up by some evil mist whatever running amuck, a warped cocky version of gilgamesh (which includes a sweet battle of the big bridge warriors mix OST and the stage itself) controlling a squad of tonberries with a team lead by edge, faris, cloud, squall, yuna, a moogle from FF6, and commander balthier to combat him in this battle, etc.

The possibilities is huge with a final fantasy warriors.
No because in a tactics game you are 80% of the time is a war story.

Just look at Tactics Ogre and FFT with the exception of a few maps its either in front of a castle or inside one. You have a objective normally like a musou would. Kill the boss but fight through these hordes of enemies to get to them. It's alot easier to translate that than just plopping FF characters from various worlds in just one.

I imagine you could have multiplayer with players filling various roles. A whm, a blm, a warrior, a theif. Enemies could be humans, monsters.

Its been done somewhat in the MMOS.
