Depends on what you mean by election. If you mean when does the Diet vote on the next Prime Minister then it's currently the 21st (it was the 15th, but the LDP delayed it in hopes of securing a majority of votes before the actual election). If she doesn't get elected prime minister (which is looking likely) then the current PM stays on until April next year. It's possible they desolve the Diet and have an actual election, but the LDP has to know that's suicide (they will certainly lose even more seats). There's also the possibility the opposition center left and center right parties elect a PM (they have enough votes to do it), but this is pretty unlikely because their priorities are very divergent. The far right and far left parties don't have enough seats to be relevant for anything.
