One Pace goes far beyond being a guide. It's an ongoing re-edit of all of One Piece. Toei's filler doesn't just stop at non-cannon episodes. Let's say something shocking happens. In the manga the shocking thing would be a double spread page, and then in the corner or on the bottom you'd have a row of reactions. In the anime, they'll give that double spread like 1m of screentime, and then do every single individual characters reactions one-by-one for 30s each. These are editing choices made to pad out the runtime as much as possible. In addition each episode of One Piece is usually only 15m. It has a 22m runtime. But that's a 2 minute opening, 1 minute ending, 30s eyecatch in the middle, 30s episode preview at the end, and usually 3-5m of recap at the start. One Pace does away with allll of that. And edits the episodes down so they feel closer to the manga's pacing, and cuts out all the actual filler too. It's a wicked cool project, and imo the best way to watch One Piece.

I remember the latter episodes of the Hades chapter Saint Seiya did like 5 minute recap every single episode and binging that shit felt horrendous, I understand that it helped when those OVAs were released like every year or so but still, the fact that they edited all of that shit out makes me want to watch it that way. Im going for it for sure.

EDIT: please do let me know when I can watch G8 if I am watching one pace.
