Not the first time baseball has gotten clinching scenarios wrong since switching to the tiebreaker system. The Phillies' magic number to clinch the NL East is 1. They win or Mets lose and they've got the division. Barring that, they can also clinch a playoff spot with losses by both the Reds and Giants. The Nationals and Twins have been eliminated from the playoffs. There might've been tiebreaker situations that eliminated them before, but neither can now catch the win total of the 6th place team in their league.
