I'd suggest to restart the game and set it to hard mode if you haven't already. Not because I think you should have a hard experience, but because I think the difficulty modes are misnamed. Rather than normal and hard it should have been easy and normal. Hard isn't hard, but unlike normal, it requires you to use strategy, which I feel is very important for one's enjoyment of a strategy game.

Unless you're there just for the anime waifus, of course.

Plus, if you don't enjoy it, the game allows you to lower the difficulty mid game, but not raise it.
