So thoughts on Last Rites:

It's definitely better than it's predecessor but that's not saying a lot since that movie was very mid, and easily the weakest of the entire universe outside of the first Annabelle I think (La Llorona doesn't count). This one... I'd probably rank it above those films, both Nuns and probably Annabelle Comes Home. It doesn't come close to the original 2 movies once again unfortunately, for a lot of the reasons I think are well highlighted in Biscuit's spoilers. It does feel like it's just missing a little something special, and despite it's length it feels like it leaves a lot of things not explored well enough. This is a very character driven movie, which is unfortunate since the only good characters are the Warren family. There's next to no attachment you can form with the other family and as a result, the things that happen to them aren't as impactful as they should have been.

It's still decent and worth watching I think, but I really wanted a return to form for this franchise. Even if it will continue, this is probably the end of these Warrens as we know them now and as one of the biggest franchises born this century this doesn't feel like the fitting sendoff it should be.

Ouija: A New Beginning: Speaking of franchises... yeah no, this isn't part of the Ouija franchise it's just someone pulling and Amityville trying to trick you into believing that. I knew this wasn't coming in for the record, but it is free on both Prime and Tubi for your viewing (dis)pleasure. Horrible acting from like half the cast, and just passable for the rest I think. The general story here is that a mother and her two daughters are constantly moving/running from... something. One of the girls finds a Ouija board at a yard sale and pretty lame things ensue. There's a plot twist near the end that makes you wonder why all this ghosty stuff is even really a part of the movie because it plays second fiddle to that plot point. It's stink.
