Yeah he's shitty with women and he takes his own martial arts training for granted cause he's been the world's best for decades but he's amazing at imparting those principles onto others even though he himself no longer lives them. You'll notice that the majority of his training for Goku and krillin was forcing them to wake up early in the morning and just do chores while wearing heavier and heavier weighted turtle shells. Waking up early, performing routine tasks, all the while pushing your physical limits is about as disciplined as most can get.
