The internet is sorta critical to function as an adult in the modern society. It's basically a utility like water and electricity. To go without would be, like, becoming a techno-hermit, living out in the forest, unplugged from the grid. Is that feasible for most people? No.

But yes, this sudden acceleration in surveillance through forcing ID verification is concerning. It's a means to control speech online. To control narratives to push propaganda. It was last bastion of truth, as much as the well as been poisoned in recent years. Most people will have no choice but to go along with it, because how else would they function in today's world? That's the inevitable truth about this; most people will comply cause "what do I have to hide?"

I just don't see a light at the end of this tunnel.
Or not wanting to be labeled as worse than the most notorious paedophile of your country as Labour have decided to use as their tactic to anyone opposed to it.
